Adding and Dropping Clients
Their website is all we need to add a client. Dropping one takes effect at the end of your billing period.
In your app: /clients/new/
Adding a client
Click Add a client on the Clients screen and enter the client's website. That's the whole form. We read the site to work out the business name, where it operates from, and what it does, then start building its nine modules. The client's SEO Score is typically ready within an hour.
Two things can need a hand from you afterward, and both show up on the Clients list:
- No address found. Some sites don't say where the business is. We'll ask you for the address so the map and the local rankings have somewhere to start.
- Industry to confirm. We look for up to three lines of work on the site and track the one the plan covers. If the client does more than one (heating and plumbing, say), you can choose which to track in that client's Settings. Each industry past the first is billed per location of that client.
What adding a client costs
Your plan includes a set number of locations and websites across all clients. While you're inside that, adding a client changes nothing on your bill. Once you're past it, each extra location and website is charged at the per-unit price, prorated for the rest of the billing period, and the Billing screen shows the change before you confirm it. See Agency Billing.
Dropping a client
Go to Billing and find the client under Dropping a client. A drop isn't instant: the client stays monitored to the end of your current billing period and comes off the next bill. There's no credit for the rest of the period. Until the period ends, the client shows a Leaves on date and a button to keep them if you change your mind.
Handing a client over
If a client is leaving your agency but wants to keep SEO Retriever, hand the business over instead of dropping it. Find them under Handing a client over on the Billing screen. The business moves to one of its own users, who then pays us directly on the regular plan, with all of its history and SEO Score intact. It comes off your bill the same way a drop does.
Changed your mind about a drop? Until the period ends, the client shows a Leaves on date on the Billing screen with a button to keep them. Click it and nothing changes: they stay on your plan and on your bill.
